9-6 Monday- Friday. Solo PA position. 12-15k cases per year; No autopsies. Frozen sections. Mostly less complex cases, often multiple Breast CA cases on the same day (usually Wed-Thur), colon CA, amputations...Couriers bring cases at predictable times throughout the day from other regional hospitals and doctors' offices. It's mostly straightforward, middle-of-the-road type pathology. There are a couple head and neck surgeons that send frozens and thyroids, but never laryngectomies. Off-site transcriptionists, no voice recognition software. The pathologists are very friendly and supportive. The lab aides are responsive. Access to hospital scrubs/OR locker room and the doctor's lounge.
